INSPIRATION + ART

Our cultural perspective

A selection of urban and artistic interventions that embody a way of reading the world: observing everyday life, challenging established ideas and opening up new ways of imagining what is possible.

molecule man

molecule man

Artist: Jonathan Borofsky Location: Berlin, Germany Year: 1999

Three human figures meet at a point on the River Spree that once divided two cities, two systems and two worlds. Molecule Man celebrates difference as a point of contact rather than a border. The work transforms a historical divide into a symbolic space for integration. More than a monument, it serves as an urban metaphor: the most profound changes do not come from the purity of a single perspective, but from dialogue between perspectives that previously never met.

crown fountain

Artist: Jaume Plensa Location: Millennium Park, Chicago, USA Year: 2004

Two glass towers project anonymous faces from the city. They are neither heroes nor celebrities, but ordinary people who look, breathe and smile. Water spouts from their mouths in a playful gesture that brings the square to life, turning art from something to contemplate into an experience to take part in. Crown Fountain rewrites the idea of a monument: rather than elevating unreachable figures, it makes visible what has been there all along.

the parthenon of books

the parthenon of books

Artist: Marta Minujín Location: Kassel, Germany Year: 2017

A replica of the Parthenon built from thousands of books that were once banned. The architecture of power becomes an archive of censorship; a symbol of democracy is raised from what was excluded from it. The work does more than recall what was silenced: it returns it to the centre of public life. Memory ceases to belong only to the past and becomes active material for thinking about the present.

floating piers

floating piers

Artists: Christo and Jeanne-Claude Location: Lake Iseo, Italy Year: 2016

For sixteen days, it was possible to walk on water. It was a real experience, not an illusion. Floating Piers transformed an everyday landscape into something extraordinary without leaving a permanent trace. The intervention set out to create a moment rather than install an object: a shared experience that changed the relationship between people and their surroundings, showing that something temporary can be profoundly transformative. It reminds us that change does not always have to be permanent: sometimes opening up a possibility is enough.

the reef line

the reef line

Artist: Leandro Erlich Location: Miami Beach, USA Year: 2023 – ongoing

Cars, sculptures and urban objects submerged in the sea provide a foundation for artificial reefs. What once symbolised speed, consumption or traffic now supports new marine life. The Reef Line is about transforming the human footprint rather than erasing it. The city does not disappear: it is rewritten within another ecosystem. What already exists is given new meaning so that it can make room for new interpretations.

YAYOI KUSAMA X LOUIS VUITTON

YAYOI KUSAMA X LOUIS VUITTON

Artist: Yayoi Kusama Location: Global interventions Year: 2023

Kusama’s dots leave the museum and take over façades, shop windows and streets. Art moves beyond an exclusive domain to become part of the everyday urban landscape. The collaboration amplifies the work rather than diluting it. It brings a deeply personal perspective into public spaces around the world, showing that culture becomes more powerful when it circulates.
